TOP 300 MOVIES OF ALL TIME: #281-"MEN WHO TREAD ON TIGER'S TAILS" (1946)
Akira Kurosawa has been credited with directing many great films, but this short film (65 minutes) is very good. "Men Who Tread On Tiger's Tails" is ripe with tension.
The plot centers on a prince, along with six loyal warrior servants trying to escape his brother who has set himself as warlord over their late father's lands.
All of the principle characters are disguised. The prince as a humble servant and his six bodyguards as monks.
The climax comes at a checkpoint at the border. They undergo a trying experience, threatened to have their true identity revealed. A brilliant work to be enjoyed.
