TOP 300 MOVIES OF ALL TIME: #282-"A SHOT IN THE DARK" (1964)

Peter Sellers introduced Closseau in "The Pink Panther", but it is this film, "A Shot In the Dark" as the starring character that he stands out from the crowd.

Clousseau is on the trail of a murderer. Herbert Lom appears for the first time as his boss. Elke Sommer is beautiful as the female lead anmd has two tantalizingly funny scenes, one a shower scene, the other at a nudist colony. At the latter Clousseau, trailing her is told he must strip in order to enter the compound. He proceeds to tail her, covered only by a guitar.
George Sanders, as always is great in the roll of straight man confounded by the bizarre behavior of Clousseau.

All and all the best Pink Panther film by far and a genuine classic.
